The FPA¿¿¿1000¿¿¿UL Analog Addressable Fire Panel is an advanced analog control panel for small to medium facilities in commercial or public building applications. The FPA¿¿¿1000¿¿¿UL combines complete built-in Fire Alarm Control Panel (FACP) equipment such as Notification Appliance Circuits (NACs), Signaling Line Circuits (SLCs), relays, power supply, Digital Alarm Communicator Transmitter (DACT), and Ethernet connection with expandability using the option bus or plug¿¿¿in boards. The two integrated NACs can be expanded with remote addressable NAC power boosters
and programmed with specific activation patterns.

Features:
  • Support for up to 508 points on two analog addressable loops
  • Built¿¿¿in Ethernet connector for web¿¿¿browser based programming and ConettixIP Alarm-over-IP communication
  • Carbon Monoxide Detector (gas) support meets NFPA 720 (2009) requirements for visual and audible annunciation
  • Auto¿¿¿Learn mode for easy provisioning
  • On¿¿¿line help and off¿¿¿line programming capability provide simple configuration and service.

Trouble conditions. The built¿¿¿in keypad can be used for total system control and programming even when wearing fireman gloves. In addition, a large 4¿¿¿line by 20¿¿¿character alphanumeric LCD display shows programmed device point information. Four keys enable Drill, Reset, Silence, and Acknowledge functions.

The FPA¿¿¿1000¿¿¿UL enables various programming approaches:

  • Two different phone or IP numbers
  • Different dialing types for PSTN (pulse only, tone and pulse, or tone only)
  • Individual PSTN line supervision (audible and visual trouble signal in the case of a transmission path failure)
  • Selectable options for Report Steering Groups
  • Programmable acknowledge wait time for each IP reporting Conettix account (15 sec up to 255 sec)
  • Test call frequency individually programmable for each account (4, 12, 24 hour, 7 and 28 day intervals, standard frequency 24 hour)

Notification Appliance Circuits (NACs):

  • Two Class A Style Z or Class B Style Y NACs provide up to 4 A of 24 V power (non-synchronized: 2.5 A per NAC; synchronized: 2.75 A NAC 1 + NAC 2 in total) to operate horns, strobes, bells, and other notification appliances. Each NAC can be programmed to provide Temporal Code 4, Temporal Code 3, and steady, puls- ing, and synchronized protocol output for Wheelock, Gentex, and System Sensor notification appliances.

Signaling Line Circuits (SLCs):

  • The FPA¿¿¿1000¿¿¿UL Fire Panel uses the patented DCP Digital Communication Protocol to communicate with each of the analog addressable devices located on the SLCs. This fast and reliable protocol allows the use of standard non¿¿¿twisted, non¿¿¿shielded wiring for the SLCs. The FPA¿¿¿1000¿¿¿UL supports two Class B, Style 4 or one Class A, Style 6 or 7 per SLC.

Mounting Considerations:

  • The cabinet can be either semi-flush (requires optional FPM¿¿¿1000¿¿¿SFMK Semi-flush Mounting Kit) or surface mounted.
  • Depending on the configuration and the battery selection, the FPA¿¿¿1000¿¿¿UL can be quite heavy. When attaching the enclosure to a surface, use mounting hardware (not supplied) capable of supporting this weight, and reinforce the wall as necessary.

Wiring Considerations:

  • The length of wire allowed between the control panel and the last device on a wiring run depends on the current drawn on that wiring run. Reducing the number of devices on a wiring run allows the individual runs to be longer.

The FAP¿¿¿440 Analog Detectors are open-area smoke detectors of which some models are enhanced with heat or heat and CO sensors. These detectors work with the FPA¿¿¿1000 Analog Addressable Fire Panels. Use these detectors with the FAA¿¿¿440 bases to provide general life safety and property protection.

Features:
  • Smoke threshold is adjustable and automatically compensated
  • Rotary switch addressing
  • Flexible work modes determined by the control panel
  • Selectable base locking mechanism prevents malicious removal of the detector
  • Multi¿¿¿criteria or multi¿¿¿sensor technology reduces false alarms

Functions:

Address Range:

  • The FAP¿¿¿440 Analog Detectors have a valid address range from 1 to 254 which is set by rotary switches on the back of each detector.

Indicator LED:

  • The detector head has a multi¿¿¿color LED to indicate status. To verify power to the detector and functioning communication of the analog addressable loop, the LED indicator flashes green when operating normally (polling). Through panel parameter setting, it is possible to turn on or off operation of the polling indicator. In the event of an alarm condition, the detector LED will always show a steady red light.

Modular Construction:

  • These detectors are part of a two¿¿¿piece modular design for detector assemblies. An FAP¿¿¿440 Analog Detector attaches to an FAA¿¿¿440 Family base. The base’s security locking tab prevents any unauthorized detector removal from the base.

Multi¿¿¿sensor detector:

  • The multi¿¿¿sensor detector contains a photoelectric smoke sensor and a heat sensor. Either sensor can detect a fire and activate an alarm signal. The smoke threshold is adjustable (see Sensitivity Calibration and Compensation below) while the heat sensor’s threshold is set at 135°F.

Multi-criteria detector:

  • The multi¿¿¿criteria detector also contains smoke and heat sensors that work independently of each other, but in conjunction with the CO sensor. In this model, an alarm signal will be activated by either one or both of the sensors only if the CO level is also exceeded.

Programming:

  • Local programming is carried out at the panel keypad or by computer through a Web browser. Remote programming is carried out through a Web browser.

Sensitivity Calibration and Compensation:

  • The sensitivity of the smoke sensor is programmable with 12 levels from which to choose. Throughout its normal life cycle, the smoke detector monitors itself against its factory calibrated level and periodically compensates itself to keep the sensitivity at it programmed level. When the detector is excessively contaminated, this condition will be annunciated at the control panel.

The FAH‐440 Analog Heat Detector is an open-area fire detector that works with the FPA‐1000 Analog Addressable Fire Panels. Use it with the FAA‐440 family of bases in indoor dry environments with high ambient temperatures where smoke detectors might not be suitable because of steam or fumes; such as kitchens, boiler rooms, or drying rooms.

Features:
  • Selectable Fixed Temperature threshold
  • Rate-of-Rise feature can be switched on or off
  • Selectable base locking mechanism prevents malicious removal of the detector

Functions:
Address Range:
  • The detector has a valid address range from 1 to 254 which is set by rotary switches on the back of the detector.

Indicator LED:
  • The detector head has a multi‐color LED to indicate status. To verify power to the detector and functioning communication of the analog addressable loop, the LED indicator flashes green when operating normally (polling). Through panel parameter setting, it ispossible to turn on or off operation of the polling indicator. In the event of an alarm condition, the detector LED will always show a steady red light.

Modular Construction:
  • The detector is part of a two‐piece modular design for detector assemblies. A detector attaches to a base in the FAA‐440 Analog Standard Base or Analog Isolator Base family. The base’s security locking tab prevents any unauthorized detector removal from the base.

Programming:
  • Local programming is carried out at the panel keypad or by computer through a Web browser. Remote programming is carried out through a Web browser.

Selectable Threshold Setting:
  • The detector has an alarm threshold temperature range of +135°F to +194°F (+57°C to +90°C) with 17 possible settings. The rate-of-rise feature can be switched on or off.

Mounting Considerations:
Detectors are typically mounted on the ceiling. However, if detectors are mounted on a wall, they must be at least 4 in. (10.2 cm), but no more than 12 in. (30.5 cm), below the ceiling. When other devices containing magnets or producing magnetic fields (for example, loudspeakers) are present in the area, the base must be at least 1 ft (30 cm) from these devices to prevent unwanted activation of the test switch.

Remote Indicator:

  • If a remote indicator is used in the circuit, it must be no more than 10 ft (3 m) from the base.
